A word for the day.

All three of the V- Team guys read and re-read quotes and passages from the Bible. For them, it is inspirational and directional. They have chosen this ancient passage from the Bible as their own, for this trip. These are words spoken long before Jesus lived. And, hundreds of years later, Jesus claimed this as a prophetic description of himself. Now as they set out to learn how to be the hands and feet of Jesus to people all over the world, V-Team is inspired to claim these words as their own. They hope to offer freedom, comfort, and new Life to anybody they are led to love and serve. And they'll be quick to tell you, this will not be by their own might or power, but by God's Spirit embedded inside them. This is their own Good News to pack and bring with them.
Isaiah 61
Good News for the Oppressed

"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies. To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory. "
Isaiah 61:1-9 NLT
